  • PCOS or polycystic ovary syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome is intrinsically linked to hormonal imbalances and causes the development of many small cysts in the ovaries. Ovulations including menses are affected and a lady with PCOS could suffer from irregular menstruation or no periods at all for months! Many ladies may show up no symptoms at all; while for some, it could be a cause of infertility.

  • Improper ovulation due to hormonal changes or distortions

Hormonal imbalance is intricately linked to ovulation cycles in females. Hormones could get distorted due to the poor functioning of the hypothalamus and the associated pituitary gland in the brain from where the FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinizing hormone) are secreted. Primary ovarian insufficiency, the condition wherein the ovaries are depleted of all the eggs before the age of 40 is also caused due to hormonal imbalance in women, says the expert offering infertility treatment in Aurangabad.

  • Endometriosis

Endometriosis is the condition when the inner lining of the uterus grows in other places like fallopian tubes, ovaries and even outside the uterus. While it could remain undiagnosed and there could be no symptoms in some women, some may experience pain and pelvis inflammation. The fertility gets affected because of the blockages in the fallopian tubes and implantation of fertilized egg is also affected.

  • Infections including the STIs

Infections including sexually transmitted diseases can affect female fertility in multiple ways. Infections like gonorrhea and chlamydia can cause the development of scar tissue and blockage which affects the fertilization and impregnation in the uterus.

  • Increased age

Age is a determining factor in females. It should be noted that a girl is born with the entire reserve of the eggs in her ovaries which mature during her fertile years. However, the quality of the eggs is drastically affected as she ages! As per a study, about 90% of the eggs released during her 20s are normal and healthy while 90% of the eggs released during her 40s are of poor quality. Thus, waiting too long for conception is a bad idea, says the expert at the leading infertility clinic in Aurangabad.

  • Unbalanced BMI

Being obese or underweight are both considered bad from the perspective of fertility in females! An obese lady has 2 to 4 times fewer chances of conception while she has four times the chance of miscarriage!
